Manchester United forward Memphis Depay has told Dutch Publication De Telegraaf that he is struggling to get used to the physical side of the Premier League.
The former PSV Eindhoven man made the move to Old Trafford over the summer with a great weight of expectation attached. After a positive immediate impact, he has struggled to maintain a high level of consistently as the season settles into a rhythm.
And speaking to De Telegraaf, he has admitted that though he is finding it difficult to get out of second gear, he is happy with his new life in Manchester.
“In Manchester I’m play a lot of games. There are very few days that I can rest out,” he said.
“On training days you are mainly concerned with conditioning. It’s heavy, two games a week, always at a high level. Because of that, my body still has to get used to it all.
“I’m try in my career to take many steps. I think this was the right step, and am happy in Manchester.”
Memphis is currently on international duty with the Dutch national side.
