Tottenham are said to be keeping tabs on Gent front man Laurent Depoitre as they continue to look for a new striker ahead of the January transfer window, the Daily Telegraph reports.
Spurs will likely make a second move for West Brom striker Saido Berahino after failing with a late bid for his services over the summer, but are lining up a number of alternative targets just in case they are unsuccessful again (via Telegraph).
And one of those names on Mauricio Pochettino’s list is said to be Depoitre, who has been called up to the Belgian national team for the first time ahead of their final Euro 2016 qualifiers against Andorra and Israel.
The Telegraph claim that the Gent striker has been compared to compatriot Christian Benteke, and has caught the eye with six goals already this term. Scouts have also been impressed with his performances in the Champions League, too.
Tottenham’s interest in the 26-year-old reportedly dates back to last season (via Telegraph) with both Belgian scout Bjorn Moons and Ian Broomfield both attending Gent games as far back as March.
