Eden Hazard has found it very difficult to regain his amazing form from last season. Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink knows what the Belgian winger needs, according to Sky
Chelsea have struggled mightly this season. The Blues are down in 14th place in the table, trailing leaders Arsenal by a whopping 19 points after just 20 Premier League matches.
Hazard not finding his groove has been one of the main reasons for Chelsea’s struggles. The Belgian was crowned Premier League’s Player of the Year last year, but hasn’t been on fire all season long.
Injuries haven’t helped either, as Hazard sustained a hip injury in Jose Mourinho’s last match in charge of The Blues (against Leicester City) and was forced to limp off after just 15 minutes against Crystal Palace after suffering a groin injury.
Now, Hiddink has come up with some advise for his Belgian star. The Dutchman believes Hazard needs to start enjoying his football again.
“For me it’s about freshness. If your mind is fresh and players are eager to step up and enjoy training that’s a signal of freshness,” said Hiddink.
“He has won trophies but this season he has had some mostly physical problems. Yesterday was the Ballon d’Or and you see the freshness of the players who have won the Ballon d’Or several times already – they are playing like youngsters.
But the Dutchman also warned his star player. When asked if Hazard needed an arm around his shoulder, Hiddink replied: “I’m not his mother.”
Hazard will miss the encounter with West Bromwich. The groin injury didn’t appear to be that serious, so there’s a chance The Belgian will be fit for Chelsea’s clash with Everton on Saturday.
