The Foxes have been contending for the top spot in the table for an entire season. They even led the Premier League on five different occasions, with only Manchester City beating them in this regard.
For now, Leicester are sharing first place with Arsenal, gaining 44 points after 22 matches, losing just twice so far and boosting the second best attack with 39 goals scored (behind Man City with 43 goals).
They are close to entering Europe again after a 16-year absence, but coach Claudio Ranieri only recently admitted that his side are contenders for the title, now revealing how he will motivate his players.
“Now is the right moment for us. You get the right horses arriving at the finale and now we are at the last turn. In March there is the final straight but now we are at the turn. I will whip them in March. If we are still there in March, I will go,” said the Italian.
Leicester got ousted by Tottenham in a replay in the FA Cup, which in the long run could be a gift. Ranieri doesn’t have a deep squad to count on and now can focus solely on the Premier League.
They never came closer than eight place on the highest level of English football, that being in the 1999/2000 season under coach Martin O’Neill.
