Liverpool have agreed to a deal in principle to sign FC Schalke defender Joel Matip, according to Daily Mirror.
The 24-year-old is in last year of his contract at Gelsenkirchen and will be able to join Reds for free in the summer.
The report claims that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of the Cameroonian international and has convinced him to move to Anfield in the summer.
Matip has been attached with Schalke since he was nine years old, but he is now eager to face new challenges in his career. The Bundesliga club wanted the player to pen a new deal, but he stood firm on his desire to leave the club in the summer.
He made his first team debut for Schalke during 2009-10 season and since then he has made 177 league appearances and scored 16 goals for the club.
He has also earned 27 caps for the Cameroon national team.
The Reds also completed the signing of QPR defender Steven Caulker on a loan deal, until the end of the season, yesterday.
