Liverpool have reportedly failed to reach an agreement with Shakhtar Donetsk over the potential transfer of Alex Teixeira.
The Ukrainian club have reportedly rejected Liverpool’s offer for their player as they want at least £35 million for him.
But the Reds are unwilling to meet their valuation according to Sky Sports, and it’s more likely now that the player will stay put at his current club until summer.
The 26-year old has admitted his frustration over Shakhtar’s reluctance to budge from their valuation, saying to US broadcaster NBC Sports he doesn’t know why his current club rejected one official offer from Liverpool.
“It was a great offer. It is frustrating. But the manager and the club president decided against it. So now I am just waiting, trying to be patient.
Texeira believes Liverpool is a huge club, with many great players that have passed at Anfield, saying it would be an honour to defend the Liverpool shirt.
However, he also said his agent is still attempting everything possible to help him get to Liverpool.
“I’ve played with [Philippe] Coutinho since we were ten years old. It would be a lot of fun to play with him again.”
The Brazilian has scored 22 goals in 15 league appearances for Shakhtar this season and was always on Chelsea’s wishlist.
