Liverpool have been linked with a move for Anderlecht midfielder Dennis Praet for quite some time now, and the latest reports are claiming that manager Jurgen Klopp is pushing for January deal for the player.
Italian newspaper Tuttosport has claimed that Klopp has asked FSG not to wait until summer to sign the 21-year old and finalize the deal in January.
Praet’s representative Jacques Lichtenstein recently confirmed that the player wants to leave the Belgian club.
He told Voetbal International:
“What can he gain by spending one more season at Anderlecht? He has already played for three years and has contributed to three back-to-back league titles.”
The Belgian international has only one year left on his contract with Anderlecht and back in December, Anderlecht’s General Manager Herman VanHolsbeeck confirmed to the reporters that the player’s future lies elsewhere:
“We have to sell as he [Praet] has only one year on his contract. We have to work towards a transfer. Otherwise, he is in a stronger position than we are.”
Anderlecht are expected to demand a transfer fee of £22.3 million for their player’s services. The Reds will have to move quickly to wrap up this transfer as Juventus and Everton have also registered their interests in the talented midfielder.
Praet made his professional debut for Anderlecht in 2011, at the age of 17. He’s played played 159 matches for the Belgian giants since, registering 25 goals and 36 assists in the process. He’s also been featured in both the Champions League and the Europea League.
