Arsenal left-back Kieran Gibbs was involved in a hilarious faux pas in the build-up to Burnley’s goal in the Gunners’ 2-1 FA Cup win over Clarets at Emirates Stadium today.
The defender took out his teammate Francis Coquelin with a sliding tackle while trying to close down space in front of his goal. The Frenchman, who was making his comeback from a two-month spell on sidelines due to injury, went down in agony following the tackle.
Luckily for Gibbs, Coquelin was able to shake off the tackle and continue the tackle.
However, the Twitter was not so forgiving:

I wonder how much Flamini paid Gibbs to try to injure Coquelin.

lmao would be insane if Gibbs injured Coq and Arsenal end up bottling the title.

The only tackle Gibbs was successful in the first half was tackling Coquelin who is just back from injury

Kieran Gibbs is so annoyed with Arsenal fans overrating Coquelin he’s tried to re-injure the Frenchman. That’s commitment.

Imagine if that Gibbs tackle had injured Coq for another 2 months lmao
