What a game it was! A French journalist, Philippe Auclair, aptly named it “the greatest crap game of the decade?”
On Saturday, Norwich City and Liverpool played out one of the most exciting games of the Premier League era.
The Reds won the game 4-5 with virtually the last kick of the game. The Canaries were left heart-broken having led the game 3-1 at one time, while Liverpool players and fans were in seventh heaven at the final whistle.
Roberto Firmino had given the Reds an early lead at Carrow Road. However, Norwich wasn’t planning on losing and Dieumerci Mbokani scored the equaliser just before the game hit 30 minutes. Newly added Steven Naismith even put the Canaries up 2-1 to enter the break.
Nine minutes into the second half, Liverpool found themselves behind 3-1, with Norwich fans dancing about a Wesley Hoolahan penalty kick. However, Jordan Henderson immediately gave the Reds hope again, making it 3-2.
Just passed to hour, it was all even again, when Firmino bagged his second of the afternoon. With 15 minutes left, James Milner gave Liverpool their first lead of the match and three points, it seemed.
In the 92nd minute, Carrow Road exploded when Sebastien Bassong hit the net to make it 4-4. But in the dying seconds of the match, Adam Lallana stunned every Canarie by scoring the fifth Liverpool goal and giving his club an amazing 4-5 win.
As could be expected, Twitter went crazy with reactions following the game:
