England national manager Roy Hodgson has called a get-together of 40 English players as part of the preparations for the Euros in France. The selected players will meet at St George’s Park next Thursday, according to The Telegraph.
The list is reported to contain all the 30 players Hodgson played during the Three Lions’ ten internationals in 2015 and another set of ten players.
Arsenal’s Danny Welbeck and Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge, who both are recovering from long-term injuries, are included in the list.
However, Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw, who is recovering from a broken foot, doesn’t figure among the selected players. It’s still unclear whether he will be able to recover from his injury before the end of the season.
The FA have decided against releasing the list of players as they don’t want to give the impression that the final 23 for the tournament will be selected from this group of players.
Hodgson aims to explain the team’s preparations for the tournament and to discuss the November friendlies against Spain (2-0 loss) and France (2-0 win) in the meeting.
