While everyone was still debating whether Jose Mourinho will manage Manchester United next season, a Portuguese publication has gone one step ahead and released the details of the Jose Mourinho’s contract with United.
Portuguese paper Diario de Noticias (vis Sport Witness) claim that Mourinho has already agreed to a three-year contract with the Red Devils.
The former Chelsea manager stands to earn £15.8 million per season at Old Trafford. He is also entitled to a £3.9 million bonus if he leads the club to Premier League success.
The paper further claims that United have avoided sacking Louis Van Gaal because they would be liable to pay him a £9.8 million payoff if they sack him in the middle of the season.
The Dutchman’s current contract with United expires in the summer of 2017, but he is expected to depart from the club at the end of the season.
Meanwhile, Mourinho has been a free agent following his sacking by Chelsea in November. Recent reports suggested that Real Madrid President Fiorentino Perez wanted the Portuguese to replace Rafa Benitez in January, but Mourinho turned down the move as he wants to manage United.
