Jose Mourinho is reportedly ready to sign a contract at Old Trafford and take on new Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola in the Premier League next season, according to Sky Italia journalist Alessandro Alciato.
The Italian broke the news via his Twitter account, with the official Sky Sports account retweeting it fairly quickly.
The Portuguese coach has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford since his sacking by Chelsea and speculation has intensified following confirmation of Pep Guardiola’s move to Manchester City.
Mourinho went head-to-head with Guardiola in Spain during their reigns at Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively and could be set to take on his old rival again next season.
However, at this point it appears less and less likely that Louis van Gaal will be sacked before the season ends, meaning a Guardiola-type deal with Mourinho taking over in the summer of 2016 looks like the only realistic option.
Sky Italia also reported Inter are said to be interested in bringing back Mourinho for a second spell at the club. His first spell saw the Italian giants win the treble in 2010.
