According to the latest reports, Liverpool have agreed on a pre-agreement for a summer move with Schalke defender Joel Matip.
The Cameroonian international is in the last year of his contract with his current club and will be a free agent in the summer.
The Reds have been linked with a move for the player for quite some time now, but recently reports indicated that the Bundesliga club are confident of tying him to a new contract.
However, if reports from Italian source Corriere Dello Sport are to be believed, then the 24-year old will be playing for the Reds in Premier League in the next season, as reported by The Daily Express.
If the reports are true, then this will be a big coup for Jurgen Klopp as he will be able to add an international defender to his squad for free.
Matip progressed through Schalke youth ranks before making his debut for the club during the 2009-10 season. He has been a mainstay for his club for last seven seasons and has made more than 200 appearances for them.
