Liverpool attempted to sign Alex Teixeira from Shakhtar Donetsk last month. After long-drawn negotiations, both clubs failed to reach an agreement, and there was a feeling that the Reds would reignite their interest in the summer.
However, those plans have met an early demise after the Ukrainian club agreed a deal to sell their player to Chinese Super League club Jiangsu Suning for a transfer fee of around £38m.
Teixeira’s unexpected transfer to China has left Liverpool fans in a state of shock:
Chinese side Jiangsu Suning have signed Alex Teixeira from Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk for €50m euros, according to L’Equipe.

Weird thing about Teixeira to Chin is that it cost £38m. Despite strong reports saying we bid around £35m, surely an extra £3m was possible

What Teixeira said: ‘I want to sign for Liverpool’
What he actually meant: ‘I want to go to any team that will pay me $$’

Shakhtar Donetsk paid €6m for Teixeira, sold for €50m. Wonder if Nanjing’s architecture & parks or the £10m-yr post-tax salary clinched it.
