Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick could be on his way out of the club in the summer.
The 34-year old’s current deal with United is set to expire in the summer, and he has been given no indication that he will be offered a contract extension.
The Times are reporting that Newcastle United are interested in signing the experienced midfielder, and other Premier League clubs could soon join the foray.
The report further claims that the former Tottenham man is happy to wait and see if he still figures in next season’s plans at Old Trafford. He is not planning to force the issue as it’s still unclear whether Louis Van Gaal will stay in charge of the club for the next season.
Carrick has struggled with form and injury issues this season and has managed only 13 league starts for the Red Devils.
He joined United in a £18 million deal from Tottenham in 2006, and has won five Premier League titles and one Champions League title during his time with the club.
