Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward intends to stay loyal to Louis van Gaal until at least the summer and has had no meaningful contact with Jose Mourinho’s camp, according to The Daily Telegraph.
The Red Devils chief is still backing the Dutchman despite a 2-1 Europa League defeat to Midtjylland on Thursday.
United are starting a run of five games in 14 days, a crucial one in their disappointing season so far. They are facing Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup, Midtjylland in the return of the Europa League, and Arsenal, Watford and West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League.
This run could make or break their season and Woodward is not willing to part ways with van Gaal at this crucial point in the 2015/2016 campaign, despite all the pressure to sack the Dutchman and appoint Jose Mourinho.
The news about Woodward’s preference to stick with van Gaal for now quickly made Twitter explode:
Lets face it. Hes not leaving. Woodward won’t let him leave. United are well stuck with him.

Ed Woodward thinks he’s in charge of the biggest club in the world yet acts like he’s in charge of Hartlepool United.#WoodwardOut

So LVG has lost the support of the players, fans, club legends and board members but still not been sacked by Ed Woodward. Why @ManUtd

But Woodward too concerned about his own ego by sacking LVG nevermind he risks running the reputation of the club to the ground.
