Southampton have made a last-minute approach to sign Arsenal winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on a loan move, according to the latest reports.
The Sun claims that the Saints manager Ronald Koeman is interested in bringing the winger to St. Mary’s Stadium and has approached the Gunners regarding a potential loan deal.
The England international has struggled to find form for the Gunners this season and has fallen behind Theo Walcott and Joel Campbell in the pecking order.
He has started only seven league games for the North London club this season and has faced criticism for his inconsistent form. He scored his only goal of the season in the Charity Shield victory over Chelsea in August.
Oxlade-Chamberlain is a product of the famed Saints youth academy and moved to Emirates Stadium in a £12m deal in the summer of 2011.
He has scored 13 goals in 144 appearances for the Gunners during his time with the club.
Chelsea were also linked with a move for the 22-year old earlier this season. However, it’s highly unlikely that Arsene Wenger would allow one of his first-team options to leave at such a short notice.
