Sunderland winger Adam Johnson has pleaded guilty to one count of sexual activity and one of grooming with a minor, according to the BBC.
He has denied two other charges of sexual conduct with a minor. The England international appeared at Bradford Crown Court on Wednesday and admitted two of the four charges labelled against him.
He will stand trial for two of the charges he has denied. The trail is expected to begin on Friday.
The 28-year old was arrested in March of last year on account of indulging in sexual activities with a 15-year old girl.
He was accused of grooming the victim between December 30, 2014 and February 26, 2015 and carrying out sexual activity in January 2015, knowing at the time that the girl was under 16, the age of consent.
Johnson had progressed through Middlesbrough youth ranks before he joined Manchester City in 2010. After spending three seasons with the Citizens, he joined Sunderland in a £10 million deal in 2012.
He won one Premier League title and one FA Cup title during his time with Man City.
