The winter transfer window has been over for some time now. Not many big names changed teams during January, but considering the Premier League has crossed beyond the halfway point of the season, players’ market values have been given a serious update.
Not many football websites keep up with it like Transfermarkt does, so we’re using their adjustments to look at the 10 biggest market value decreases in the Premier League.
The player who received the biggest decrease in the English top-flight is Radamel Falcao. The Colombian striker’s value dropped from £26.25 million to £17.25 million, a negative change of £9 million. No wonder, Falcao hasn’t hit a dime in the Premier League, first with Manchester United and currently with Chelsea.
Falcao has a big edge over number two, but that’s also a player from the Blues: Branislav Ivanovic. The Serbian right-back saw his market value decrease with £4.50 million, dipping under the £10 million mark.
Next up are three players who’s value dropped with £3.75 million. Two of them are also Chelsea players: Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa. Still, both are valued over £30 million. Liverpool’s Christian Benteke is the third one, with his struggles to get going at Anfield having consequences. The Belgian has scored just six goals this season.
The top ten is completed by Manchester City’s Pablo Zabaleta, Chelsea’s Gary Cahill and Cesar Azpilicueta, Newcastle’s Seydou Doumbia and Manchester United’s Memphis Depay.
