Chelsea are considering ending Alexandre Pato’s loan contract before the end of the season, with the striker currently without making a single appearance, according to the Evening Standard.
The 26-year-old striker completed a loan move from Brazilian side Corinthians during the winter transfer window, as the Blues were short on fit attackers. Radamel Falcao was out, while there were a bunch of doubs regarding Diego Costa and Loic Remy.
However, the former AC Milan star has yet to make his first appearance for Chelsea, while he’s earning £30,000-a-week. Pato was in Guus Hiddink’s Premier League squad on just two occasions: against Norwich and Stoke.
It was expected that the Brazilian would need some time to adjust to the club and get into shape, as his latest competitive match was played in November.
Still, Pato has not been able to work his way up the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, with Hiddink preferring to deploy 20-year-old Bertrand Traore, who has scored four goals in his last six appearances.
Therefore, Chelsea are considering cutting Pato’s loan spell short, which would save them a solid amount of money. Meanwhile, Corinthians had hoped he’d impress so they could cash a transfer fee this summer.
