Will he stay or will he go? That’s once again the big question regarding Manchester United’s star goalkeeper David De Gea, as conflicting reports have made the story even less clear.
According to a report by the Daily Star, the Primera Division giants are still keen on the Spanish international and will try to lure him to the Spanish capital.
The 25-year-old signed a new contract after almost moving to the Bernabeu during the summer of 2015, but apparently Real don’t give up easily, despite the fact that Keylor Navas has become one of the best goalkeepers in Europe this season.
With the possibility of missing the Champions League and the Europa League, the Red Devils will struggle to ward off Madrid’s advances a second time.
However, according to Spanish news outlet MARCA, Los Blancos have dropped their interest in De Gea. They quote sources from the club’s board, who preferred to remain anonymous, confirmed these developments to German news agency DPA.
“Keylor Navas is a fans’ favourite and his performances have been top-drawer. There is no need to search for another goalkeeper, and that includes De Gea,” they said.
The Spaniard joined United in the summer of 2011 from Atletico Madrid in a £18.75 million transfer.
