Liverpool have been strongly linked with a move for Bayern Munich midfielder Mario Gotze recently. The Reds manager Jurgen Klopp played a significant role in Gotze’s development at Borussia Dortmund, and now he reportedly wants his former star player to join him at Anfield.
However, according to German publication Die Welt, Gotze’s previous club Dortmund are also interested in the player and have enquired about a possibility of bringing their former star back to the club.
The report also states that the 23-year old is considering a move back to the club where he shot to international fame, while the likes of Juventus are also keen on the German.
Gotze moved to Bayern Munich in a high-profile £27.75 million deal from Dortmund in 2013. However, he has fallen down the pecking order at the Bundesliga champions under Pep Guardiola this season and is looking for a move away from the club.
He only has one year left on his contract with Bayern, and the German giants are expected to let him leave in the summer if they receive a tempting offer for his services.
