Manchester United have been rumoured to be Jose Mourinho’s next coaching destination for several months.
The Red Devils are once again having a disappointing season, ranked just sixth after 30 matchdays with 50 points. Coach Louis van Gaal has been under serious scrutiny all season long, as he’s been unable to rocket the proud Old Trafford club back to title contending status.
Mourinho got sacked by Chelsea in December and has been the favourite to take over from the Dutchman in the summer. There have been talks between the Portuguese’s inner circle and the Red Devils. However, no formal offer has been made by United, meaning the race is still wide open.
According to The Sun, a new and shocking rival has entered the fight for Mourinho: Valencia. The Spanish club sacked Gary Neville on Wednesday and serious discussions have been held with the Portuguese’s camp over him taking over at the Mestalla.
Mourinho would be handed a transfer budget of £100 million along with a salary of £15m-per-year by owner Peter Lim, who’s a friend and business partner of Neville.
