Former Manchester United player Laurent Blanc has emerged as one of the favourites to take over the Red Devils’ coaching job in the summer.
According to Daily Star, the current Paris Saint-Germain manager is highly regarded by former United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and will be in the running for the job alongside former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho and United legend Ryan Giggs.
However, the report also claims that United’s hierarchy is likely to stick with current manager Louis van Gaal for one more year. The Dutchman’s current contract with the Red Devils expires in 2017.
Blanc has done extremely well with PSG and has won three consecutive Ligue 1 titles with them, as PSG won the Ligue 1 title this weekend by beating Troy 9-0 on the road. Last week he led the Paris club to the Champions League quarter-finals following a two-legged victory over Chelsea.
He has previously managed Ligue 1 club Bordeaux and the France national team, and won the 2008/2009 league title with Bordeaux.
He played for United for two seasons after Sir Alex Ferguson signed him from Inter Milan in 2001, and he was therefore part of the 2002/2003 Premier League winning squad.
