Celebrity Arsenal fan Piers Morgan has claimed that Pep Guardiola wanted to be the next Arsenal manager.
The Spaniard, who is currently in charge of Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, will take charge of Manchester City on a three-year deal in the summer.
The Good Morning Britain presenter also claimed that Guardiola wanted to bring Gunners’ legend Thierry Henry as his number two at the Emirates Stadium. Henry has previously played under Guardiola at Barcelona, and won an unprecedented sextuple during the 2008-09 season under the former Barcelona manager.
Morgan made the claim on his Twitter account in the wake of the Gunners’ disappointing 2-1 defeat to Swansea City on Wednesday, as he is a well-known critic of current manager Arsene Wenger and has voiced his opinion against the Frenchman on several occasions.
I was told on VERY good authority last night that Pep Guardiola wanted to come to Arsenal with Thierry Henry as his No2. #afc

The Gunners are currently going through a crisis as they have lost three consecutive games in all competitions, while their Champions League campaign has almost ended once again in the round of 16, after they succumbed to a 2-0 defeat to Barcelona in the home leg of the tie.
Two consecutive defeats in the Premier League have dented the North London club’s domestic challenge too.
