Various media outlets, like Il Messagero via ESPN FC, have linked Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny with a permanent move to AS Roma. The reports quoted Szczesny saying that he is interested in making his loan move at the Serie A club permanent in the summer.
However, it now appears that the Polish international’s quotes were taken out of context by the media. Szczesny has called out the English media on his Facebook page by clarifying that he never talked about a permanent move from the Gunners. The 26-year-old only stated his desire to extend his current loan spell at Roma by a year.
Szczesny is enjoying a successful loan spell at Roma and has made 31 league appearances and eight Champions League appearances for the capital club.
He departed from Arsenal following the arrival of Petr Cech in the summer and is not expected to be the first-choice keeper if he returns to the North London club in the summer. Szczesny signed for Arsenal as a 16-year-old in 2006 and has made 132 league appearances for the Gunners.
