According to Goal, Chelsea have agreed a deal for the transfer of AS Roma star midfielder Radja Nainggolan, who turns 28 next week and was under contract with Roma until June 2020.
The Belgium international is set to sign a five-year contract with the Blues as he is set to become Antonio Conte’s first signing at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea are reportedly ready to pay £28 million for Nainggolan, who’s been a long-time target of Conte before he joined the Italian national team in 2014.
The deal has been thrashed out by Chelsea over the last 48 hours with Roma and the player’s representatives, as Conte looks to make the Belgian a key player in the Blues’ rebuild.
Nainggolan has scored 12 goals in 105 appearances for Roma since making his debut for the Serie A outfit in 2014. On Monday, Nainggolan scored the decisive late goal to beat Napoli 1-0, putting the Giallorossi within two points of second place in Serie A.
The 27-year-old has also scored four goals in 17 caps for Belgium and has been called “The Ninja” for his mohawk and bruising style of play as a box-to-box midfielder.
