Juventus are set to compete with Arsenal for the signing of Leicester City midfielder N’Golo Kante. Earlier this week, RMC reported that the Gunners are determined to sign the France international and are prepared to activate his £20million release clause.
However, if the latest report from Italian source Tuttomercatoweb.com, via Sports, is to be believed, Serie A champions Juventus have joined the pursuit for the 25-year-old.
Leicester City, on the other hand, are trying to convince Kante to extend his current deal which expires in 2019. Kante, who signed for the Foxes £5.6 million from French club Caen last summer, played a significant role in his team’s sensational title-winning season.
He was also called up by France coach Didier Deschamps for the national team earlier this year and is expected to be a part of the Les Bleus squad for this summer’s European Championships.
Arsene manager Arsene Wenger in his press conference this week admitted his admiration for the player, but refused to comment on any possible transfer move. He said: “I think he will play in the European Championships and for me he was one of the players of the year in the Premier League.”
When asked about transfer rumours linking the Gunners with the player, he added: “I cannot tell you anything now. He is under contract with Leicester. I am sure if Leicester want to sell him, they will find some buyers.”
Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City are also said to be interested in the player.
