Chelsea have lost no time in finding an alternative to Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba after giving up on his pursuit.
Italian source Calcio Mercato Web claims that the Blues incoming manager Antonio Conte has identified Paris Saint-Germain’s midfielder Blaise Matuidi as a possible summer target.
The West London club were linked with a move for the 29-year-old earlier this year and now it seems that they have reignited their interest in the player after their approaches for top targets have been turned down.
Namely, the Blues have recently suffered setbacks in their pursuits of two midfield signings.
Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola last week claimed that the France international could stay with the Turin club beyond the summer. Meanwhile, Chelsea were delivered further disappointment when AS Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini turned down their move for midfielder Radja Nainggolan.
He told La Gazzetta dello Sport: “Nainggolan to leave? I don’t think so. He wants to stay.”
Matuidi has played a significant role in Paris Saint-Germain’s rise to the top of France football since his arrival at the club in 2011. He has won four consecutive league titles with the Paris club and has also established himself in the France national squad.
