Contrary to the recent reports, Chelsea have not reached an agreement to sign AS Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan.
The Belgium international is reportedly at the top transfer wish list of incoming manager Antonio Conte. Last month, reports suggested that the Blues have already agreed on a deal with the Serie A club and the player’s representatives for the 28-year-old.
However, Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini has dismissed those reports by claiming that the player is happy at the Rome-based club and has no intentions of leaving in the summer.
Sabatini told La Gazzetta dello Sport: “Nainggolan to leave? I don’t think so. He wants to stay.”
It remains a possibility that Roma are just simply trying to drive up the price of their player with the latest statement, but it can be safely concluded that a deal is yet to be agreed between the two clubs.
Nainggolan signed for Roma from Cagliari on a loan deal in 2014 before making his move permanent in 2015. His current deal with Roma runs until 2020 and he is valued at around £30 million by his club.
