Premier League clubs Liverpool and Tottenham have been linked with a move for Wolfsburg forward Andre Schurrle recently. The former Chelsea star has not lived up to the expectations after joining the Bundesliga club in February of last year.
He has managed only seven goals in 40 league appearances and there have been suggestions that he could be sold by manager Dieter Hecking as part of a squad overhaul in the summer.
When recently asked about his future, the 25-year-old admitted: “We have to talk about the future.”
However, when specifically probed about links to Liverpool he maintained that he is currently concentrating on finishing the current season strongly.
He told Bild: “I have not heard anything about it. It’s not my style to join in with the speculation. The European Championships are coming up. I want to play well in the three final matches for Wolfsburg. That’s my focus.
“We’ll see what happens after that. The sporting director has talked about a squad overhaul, and allegedly I am part of that. You need to see what happens.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool are planning to sell winger Jordan Ibe in the summer, according to Squawka (via Daily Express).
The 20-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield since the arrival of Jurgen Klopp and there have been suggestions of a rift between him and the manager.
North London duo Arsenal and Tottenham are said to be interested in the player if he becomes available in the transfer market. The report further states that Watford are also keeping the tabs on the youngster.
