Liverpool will target Cologne goalkeeper Timo Horn with a view to making the German their number one between the sticks next season, despite extending Simon Mignolet’s contract.
According to a report in The Sun, the Reds sent scout Dave Fallows to make a final check on the 22-year-old during Cologne’s encounter with Augsburg on Friday, a game that ended in a 0-0 draw.
Horn is seen by coach Jurgen Klopp as the long-term solution to his problems regarding goalkeepers. Simon Mignolet signed a new five-year contract earlier this season, but the German feels he needs a better stopper to get the Reds back to contending for the Premier League’s crown.
Horn recently signed a new contract until 2019 at Cologne , but he could be available for £7 million and has hinted he’s ready to take the next step in his career.
Meanwhile, Liverpool’s scout Kevin Hunt ran the rule over Javier Pastore during Paris Saint-Germain’s 4-0 win over Rennes on Friday, with the midfielder considering his future at Parc des Princes, according to a report by France Football, via Get French Football.
The 27-year-old has scored 37 goals in 208 games for the French club, and has 27 caps for Argentina, scoring two goals. He joined the Ligue 1 champions in the summer of 2011 from Palermo for £31.5 million, meaning he won’t come cheap for the Reds, as Pastore has also been linked to Juventus.
