Manchester United have initiated contact with the agent of Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos ahead of a possible summer move.
Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo claims that Barcelona along with United and Chelsea are interested in the 21-year-old. However, the report suggests that the Catalan club will find it difficult to match the financial power of the Premier League clubs.
United have already contacted the player’s agent and are currently in the driving seat in his pursuit. The Brazilian defender is reportedly frustrated due to lack of playing opportunities and has attracted attention from several clubs.
He is currently behind his compatriots Thiago Silva and David Luiz in the pecking order at PSG and is eager to leave the club in the summer.
Meanwhile, Italian source Calcio Mercato has linked Manchester United with Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi.
The 2014 World Cup winner has been in impressive form this season and has recently claimed that he is open to a transfer move in the summer.
The 24-year-old told FcInterNews: “I have a contract here and get on very well [with everyone].
“But the offers are always there and in football you never know what will happen, as anything can happen. However, I will assess at the end of the season.”
Liverpool and Juventus have also been linked with the German international.
