Arsenal have made an offer to teenage Santos striker Gabriel Barbosa, though no official agreement has been reached with the club or the player, according to ESPN Brazil.
The 19-year-old, who’s known as Gabigol, has received three formal proposals: one from England, one from Italy and one from China. Hebei Fortune of China came up with a huge salary bid of £250.000 for the Brazilian and were even ready to trigger his £42 million release clause.
His agents also have a letter of intent from Fiorentina, who have promised to pay £23 million to sign him, while Juventus have also linked with the 19-year-old sensation.
However, Gabigol is excited by the offer from Arsenal and has told his agents that he only wants to play for a major European club like the Gunners. According to the report, Arsenal’s offer for the 19-year-old has exceeded the set fee.
The young striker was rewarded for his fine form in Brazilian football with his first international cap earlier this month, where he went on to score on his debut against Panama in a 2-0 win.
