Changes have been set in motion at Manchester United following the appointment of Jose Mourinho last week. The Portuguese manager plans to build a title-challenging team this season, and as expected, there will be a lot of ins and outs at the club.
According to a report from Sky Sports, United duo Juan Mata and Daley Blind are set to be the first high-profile victims of Mourinho’s squad overhaul at Old Trafford.
Both players featured in the last month’s FA Cup final for the Red Devils and played regularly in under manager Louis Van Gaal last season.
Mata was linked with an exit from the club ever since Mourinho was linked with a move to United. When the Portuguese was in charge of Chelsea, he pushed for the sale of the Spaniard midfielder to United in 2014 for a fee in the region of £33.5 million.
Meanwhile, Blind, who arrived at Old Trafford in a £14 million move a couple of seasons ago, supposedly doesn’t fit the profile Mourinho looks for in his central defenders, but has been linked to Barcelona according to Sport.
The Dutch international also recently criticized the treatment of former manager Louis Van Gaal during his last season at the club.
