Napoli midfielder Marek Hamsik has been one of the standout performers in the ongoing Euro Cup. He has produced some eye-catching performances for the Slovakia national team and helped them reach the last-16 of the competition.
His performances have reportedly attracted the attention from Premier League clubs Manchester United and Chelsea, according to London Evening Standard.
The report also mentions that United are also pursuing Borussia Dortmund playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan as an alternative option. Liverpool, who have maintained a long-term interest in the 28-year-old, however, still remain favourites to sign the playmaker.
Italian football journalist Emanuele Giulianelli told Tribal Football that Reds manager Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of the Napoli man and he is ready to spend £35 million to bring the player to Anfield.
He told Tribal Football: “There’s another big name that could start tempting the dreams of the Kop: Marek Hamsik.
“Aurelio De Laurentis, the Napoli president, has received a proposal of about €45 million (£35 million) for the Slovak midfielder.”
Hamsik has been playing for the Naples club since 2007 and has preferred to stay at the Serie A giants despite multiple interests in his services down the years.
He scored eight goals and provided eleven assists in 46 appearances in all competitions for Napoli last season, who finished second in the Italian league.
