With the new TV deal kicking in next season, it is expected that all major Premier League clubs will spend big during the 2016 summer transfer window.
However, it hasn’t been easy for the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, and Arsenal to sign their biggest transfer targets. And now, they’ve been dealt two big blows once again.
Antoine Griezmann has decided to extend his current contract with Atletico Madrid until the summer of 2021, after he scored an impressive 32 goals in all competitions for the club last season: 22 in in 37 La Liga appearances, seven in the Champions League and three in the Copa del Rey.
“I’m very satisfied, very happy to keep belonging to this family and this project. I want to improve every year, and the club, the coaches and my teammates can help me to reach this goal,” the 25-year-old France international told Atletico Madrid’s club website.
This comes as a blow to Chelsea especially, with the Blues in the hunt for a new top striker. Therefore, Chelsea have offered £38 million to Real Madrid for Alvaro Morata, according to Premium Sport.
Meanwhile, United and Arsenal have also been hit by bad news about a top striker. According to Spanish source AS (via talkSPORT), Borussia Dortmund are preparing a new contract for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The Bundesliga giants have already lost star duo Mats Hummels and Ilkay Gundogan to Bayern Munich and Manchester City respectively, and are keen to hold on to the Gabon striker for at least another season by offering him a new contract until 2020, with a significant pay rise included in the offer.
The 27-year-old drew the attention from nearly all major European clubs, including Real Madrid, by scoring 39 goals in 49 appearances in all competitions for Dortmund.
