It’s obvious Manchester City are primed for a big summer. With Pep Guardiola coming in to coach the Citizens, the club are expected to sign a number of big names.
City have already secured the signing of midfielder Ilkay Gundogan from Borussia Dortmund and are the reported favourites to land young gun Leroy Sane from Schalke 04.
However, according to The Daily Mail Guardiola is also considering a shock move for Victor Valdes, who has been released by Manchester United. The goalkeeper was Barcelona’s number one under the new City boss.
The Spaniard played only two first-team games at Old Trafford and was accused of refusing to play in a reserve game by the then United manager Louis van Gaal. Valdes subsequently played on loan at Belgian club Standard Liege, declaring himself fit after recovering from a knee ligament injury.
Meanwhile, City are looking to add another striker to support Sergio Aguero next season. According to a report by The Sun, Guardiola is eyeing a £14 million move for Celta Vigo star Nolito, who he worked with at Barcelona.
Nolito was in fine form last season, scoring 12 goals and providing seven assists in just 27 appearances in all competitions.
