Arsenal have been linked with a shocking swap deal involving Olivier Giroud and Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain by reliable Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio.
The report claims that the Gunners are ready to offer the France international in addition to £42 million to sign the Argentina international from the Serie A club, who finished second behind Juventus last season.
The 28-year-old striker currently has two years left on his deal with Napoli. He has also attracted interests from the likes of Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool, and has reportedly already turned down a big money move to Chinese club Hebei Fortune.
The North London club are desperately looking for a striker in the transfer market, but it seems very unlikely that Arsene Wenger would let the 29-year-old French striker leave this summer.
However, far more unpredictable things have happened in football before and the lack of world-class strikers in the transfer market could result in Arsenal taking drastic measures in the transfer market.
Higuain set the all-time Serie A season goal-scoring record by netting 36 goals for the Naples club last season.
