It’s public knowledge that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is in the transfer market for a proven goalscorer. The Gunners have already made a failed attempt to sign Jamie Vardy from Leicester City and now they have moved their attention elsewhere.
According to Jeremy Wilson of the Telegraph, Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette and Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata are the current top targets for the North London club.
Both strikers are expected to demand a hefty transfer fee, in excess of £40 million, in the transfer market.
Morata has recently joined Real Madrid from Juventus after the La Liga club activated their buy-back clause in his contract. Los Blancos are now expected to sell him to the highest bidder in the transfer market.
Lacazette could also prove to be a difficult signing to achieve this summer after Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas recently claimed that the Ligue 1 club intend to hold on to their striker.
According to Wilson, the North London club are also interested in adding a centre-back to the squad ahead of next season, as they want to win their first Premier League title since 2004.
