Chelsea forward Diego Costa is desperate for a summer exit from the West London club, according to Daily Star.
The 27-year-old, who experienced a tumultuous time in the Premier League last season, has reportedly informed the Blues that he wants to join his former club Atletico Madrid.
Atletico have, on multiple occasions, publicly declared their intention of bringing the Spain international back to the Vicente Calderon. The report from Daily Star suggests that the Champions League runners-ups have already submitted a £40 million bid for their former player.
The Blues have already signed Belgium striker Michy Batshuayi in a £33 million deal from Marseille, but they are expected to move for another striker if Costa ends up leaving the club in the summer.
Costa, who has three years left on his current deal with the Blues, is eager to leave England after his public image hit rock-bottom due to his on-pitch antics last season. He arrived at Stamford Bridge in a £32 million deal, a couple of years ago, and scored 36 goals in 78 appearances for Chelsea.
