Newcastle have told potentoal suitors will have to come up with a staggering £35 million offer if they are to lure Euro 2016 star Moussa Sissoko away from St James’ Park, according to a report by talkSPORT.
The Toon midfielder has gone on holiday after France’s 1-0 loss to Portugal in the Euro 2016 final but will return to the Magpies later this month.
Newcastle’s preference is to hold on to Sissoko, as Andros Townsend has already left after Crystal Palace activated the £13 million escape clause in his contract. Therefore, Benitez is keen to retain the services of the likes of Sissoko and Georginio Wijnaldum despite their understandable desire to leave a second-tier club.
Consequently, the Magpies have put a £35 million price tag on the France international’s head, who’s Sissoko already been linked with a series of clubs, including Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool, and Borussia Dortmund after impressing at Euro 2016 with a couple of key performances for his nation.
Sissoko joined Newcastle during the winter transfer market of 2013 from Ligue 1 club Toulouse for only £2.1 million. He has appeared in 133 games for the club, scoring 12 goals.
