Dutch international Vincent Janssen is one the most sought-after young strikers in European football at the moment. The AZ Alkmaar star has already attracted interested from a number of clubs with his recent performances for his club and country.
Tottenham are one of the clubs interested in the 22-year-old and already had their bid of £15 million turned down for the player, who scored 27 goals for Alkmaar in the Dutch Eredivisie last season.
However, it now seems like the North London club will finally get their target. French publication L’Equipe (via Get French Football) already claimed that Janssen turned down interest from Paris-Saint Germain because he wants to join the Spurs.
Janssen wants to play in Premier League next season and expected that his current club will accept the new and improved offer from Tottenham. That has reportedly happened wth a £17 million offer by Tottenham, with the 22-year-old understood to be having a medical in London this week, according to talkSPORT.
Meanwhile, Southampton have completed the signing of 20-year-old midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Bayern Munich, according to the club’s website.
“I look forward to giving what I have and what I can to the club. They have put trust in me and I want to show them that they are not wrong,” the Dane international said.
Joining the senior squad of a top club like Bayern isn’t easy for an 18-year-old. Consequenlty, Hojbjerg was sent on loan the past two seasons, one at Augsburg and one at Schalke 04. The 20-year-old played a key part in Augsburg’s magical 2014/2015 season, when they finished fifth in the Bundesliga, and made 23 appearances for Schalke last season.
