Borussia Dortmund have agreed a five-year deal with Wolfsburg midfielder Andre Schurrle and are stepping up their interest in Tottenham target Mario Gotze over a return to the club, according to a report by German outlet Kicker (via SB Nation).
The Germany international, who played at Euro 2016 for his country, left Dortmund three seasons ago for big rivals Bayern Munich in a £30.8 million deal. However, his time with the Bundesliga champions has been riddled with injury and a lack of playing time, making him a prime transfer target this summer.
Tottenham were linked with a move for the 24-year-old, like Liverpool, but haven’t made an approach so far and, therefore, are primed to lose out on him.
Meanwhile, Newcastle winger has marked Tottenham as his number one destination if he leaves the club. The Magpies have put a £25 million price tag on his head and are not willing to negotiate about it, according to Bleacher Report’s Dean Jones.

This comes as a huge hit for Everton, who had highlighted the 25-year-old Dutch international as one of their key transfer targets before the start of the new season, according to Sky Sports.
Wijnaldum joined Newcastle only last summer, in a £17 million deal from PSV. He went on to provide 11 goals and 5 assists in 38 league appearances, but was unable to avoid relegation.
