Arsenal have been linked with a move for Real Madrid star James Rodriguez in Spanish media. Madrid-based paper AS has claimed this week that Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina is trying to convince the 25-year-old to join the Gunners.
Both players not only play for Colombia national team, but Rodriguez is married to Ospina’s sister Daniela Ospina.
Rodriguez reportedly has a £69m release clause in his contract with Madrid. Chelsea have also been linked with the Colombia international as of late. However, Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane this week insisted that Rodriguez won’t be leaving his club this summer.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have suffered a setback in their pursuit of Valencia centre-back Shkodran Mustafi. Sky Sports have claimed that the La Liga club are not willing to sell their player until his buy-out clause, which stands at £43.1m, is met.
The North London club have been involved in negotiations for the German international for quite some time and understood to have reached an agreement with the player. However, they believe that £43.1m is too much for the 24-year-old and are not prepared to pay that amount for him.
