Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny is set to join AS Roma on yet another loan deal, according to Italian football journalist Gianluca di Marzio.
The report claims that an agreement has already been reached between the two clubs. The 26-year-old, who also spent last season on loan with the Giallorossi and helped them to a third place in Serie A, is expected to arrive in the Italy capital on Thursday morning.
The Poland international is expected to undergo a medical the same day before signing a new contract. The report also mentions that the loan deal doesn’t include an option to buy, and Szczesny will be returning back to Emirates Stadium next summer.
The variables of this deal are in contrast to the reports, which emerged last week and suggested that the Rome-based club will have the option to buy the player for £13.4 million.
Szczesny was a constant presence in Roma’s first-team last season and made 34 league appearances. Meanwhile, David Ospina is likely to stay at the North London club now and provide back-up to first choice goalkeeper Petr Cech.
