Chelsea full-back Baba Rahman has joined Bundesliga club Schalke 04 on a loan deal. The Ghanaian international joined the Blues in a £14 million deal from Augsburg last summer, but his performances in his debut season were deemed not good enough by the club fans.
Over the week, news broke out that Schalke are interested in signing the 22-year-old, and on Sunday they announced the arrival of the defender on a season-long loan deal.
Rahman reportedly passed his medical in Germany ahead of putting pen-to-paper on his deal. He managed 23 appearances in all competitions for the West London club last season.
Meanwhile, Chelsea have been linked with PSV Eindhoven right-back Santiago Arias. The Sun has claimed that the Blues manager Antonio Conte wants more options in his defence and is contemplating a bid for the Colombian international.
The Blues reportedly scouted the 24-year-old during the summer’s Copa America and are waiting for Eredivisie to kick-off next week before making a formal bid for him. The West London club are planning to lodge an initial £12 million bid next week.
