Chelsea are planning to launch a massive spending spree in the closing stages of the transfer window. The Express claims that the Blues intend to spend up to £150 million before the transfer window shuts down at the end of this month.
The West London club have faced continuous frustration in their pursuit of Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly as the Naples club are not willing to budge on their £50m valuation of the Senegal international. However, Chelsea are still hopeful of signing their primary defensive target in the coming days.
The report also added that the Blues had a £42m bid for Everton striker Romelu Lukaku rejected last week. The Belgian international sat out of Everton’s fixture against Tottenham on Saturday and an improved bid from Chelsea would most certainly test Toffees’ resolve to hold on to their main man.
Chelsea are also interested in Santos midfielder Thiago Maia. The 19-year-old, who is currently playing for Brazil at the Rio Olympics, at £15m by his club. The Blues are expected to make a move for him following the completion of the Olympics.
