Arsenal and Juventus target Julian Draxler will definitely leave his current club Wolfsburg, his agent has confirmed.
The German international expressed his desire to leave Wolfsburg last summer, but he was forced to stay with his current club by the club board.
Arsenal and Juventus were both linked with the 23-year-old during the summer. Paris Saint-Germain and Everton are other clubs who were also linked with interest in the player.
Draxler’s agent Fabio Parisi has now revealed that Juventus were indeed interested in his client and even spoke to him during summer. Parisi also revealed that PSG offered nearly £59m for the winger, but a move never transpired.
He said: “Max Allegri had spoken to Draxler, they were in sync, and there was an immediate rapport between them.
“Wolfsburg have strong owners, but unfortunately for the German fans, everyone wants to leave there. Over the summer Draxler was on the verge of joining PSG, who had offered nearly £59m.
“He will definitely leave Wolfsburg at the end of the season. He would’ve gladly run to join Juve and is the ideal trequartista for Allegri.
“I repeat: Draxler will leave, but whether or not Juventus are interested again is another matter.”
Arsenal have maintained an interest in Draxler since his Schalke days, and it will be interesting to see if they renew their interest in him next summer.
Draxler’s comments during the transfer window suggested that the player is unsettled in his current situation and Wolfsburg’s start to the new season has done nothing to change his mind.
Wolfsburg are currently struggling in Bundesliga and have managed only six points from their opening six games. Draxler is yet to register a goal or an assist after six Bundesliga appearances this season.
