Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini was spotted at the Vicente Calderon on Sunday night as he checked the progress of apparent transfer target Radamel Falcao, the Atletico Madrid striker.

According to the Daily Mail, Mancini watched the prolific Colombia international find the net again as Atletico defeated Malaga.

However, after the game Atleti president Enrique Cerezo rubbished claims that an offer from the English champions was imminent.

We know Mancini came to watch, but we are calm on the subject of Falcao,” said Cerezo. “Mancini must be here to look for a home in Malaga.

Mancini has a wealth of attacking options at his disposal but has been rumoured to have had a bust up with Mario Balotelli, while the City boss has had issues in the past with both Edin Dzeko and, more notably, Carlos Tevez.

Falcao scored 36 goals in 50 appearances in all competition last season for Atletico, a record only bettered in Spain by Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. His goal against Malaga was his ninth already this season in only six league games. The Colombian also announced himself to English audiences when he netted a hat-trick in his side’s 4-1 Super Cup victory over Chelsea in late August.
